House Bill 178 DRAFT: Beer/Wine & Serving at Farmers' Markets included. Feedback?
An Aide from Representative Manning’s Office (District 55) contacted me to ask if I would be willing to testify tomorrow morning as the Government Accountability and Oversight Committee meet to discuss the proposed House Bill 178 (attached). Any feedback that you want to share with me ahead of the meeting would be greatly appreciated.
Whether you are in favor or opposed to the proposed bill, I would like to hear from you and your opinions.
When the bill was first proposed it fell more on the winery/brewery/merchant to the appropriate license. There was some push back from the Dept. of Commerce about tracking and under the new draft, it would be a license that would be sold to the Market and then the Markets could host the vendors.
Do you think this bill would encourage Ohio wineries to participate at Markets? Would your Markets allow wine and beer sales (closed bottle or open)? Would this bill have a positive or negative effect on the Markets you participate in?
If you would like to contact Representative Manning’s office to learn more about the proposal, the Aide’s contact is:
